Mariah's got her own blog going on Facebook and she keeps complaining that Stacey & I wake her and Caitlyn up at "the crack of dawn" every morning...I guess that depends on your definition...if you think that 9 o'clock in the morning is the crack of dawn, then you might agree with the girls.  ;-)

Yesterday, we took the train into Valencia, today Wayne took the day off and we all drove in.  We went to Catedral de Santa María de Valencia and did a self-guided tour.  One of the chapels contains the Holy Grail - believed by most Christian historians to be the authentic cup used at the Last Supper.

We then were going to visit the aquarium, but by the time we found a place to park and walked over, that would have only left us an hour at the aquarium before having to head off on our other planned activities, so we decided to skip the 23€ (approximately $37 Cdn) per person fee.

We sampled "orxata", a traditional Valencian drink made from ground tigernuts, water and sugar.  It was served cold by an outdoor vendor and was similar in taste and texture to soy milk - yum!!  :-)

After admiring the beautiful exterior of the aquarium, we had lunch on the patio of an Italian restaurant - Luna Rossa - the adults each had a different kind of pasta and the girls each had a different kind of pizza.  J'ai mangé des raviolis à la citrouille avec une sauce au fromage et ce repas était délicieux!des

In Spain, desayuna (breakfast) is usually around 8 am, comida (dinner - the biggest meal of the day) is after 2 pm, and cena (supper) is served around 9 pm..  They also have names for the morning and afternoon snacks - almuerza & merienda.  Most stores and businesses open at 10 am, then close between 2 and 5 pm when they reopen until 9 pm.  It's taking some getting used to eating lunch so late and then supper even later.

Il fait très chaud ici, environs 33 degrès chaque jour et il n'y a aucunes nuages. C'est difficile pour Mariah et moi de nous y habituer.  ;-)

After lunch, we took a tour of the Lladró porcelain factory.  After seeing the intricate work that goes into each individually hand-decorated and assembled piece, it is easy to see why this company is so famous worldwide.  They create such beautiful figures.  We weren't allowed to take any pictures inside the workshops.

We then headed home for a siesta and dip in the pool before supper at 9 pm.  We topped off a fantastic day with chocolate fondu!  :-)
